If you’re using the ATEM Mini Pro and Castr, you can connect these tools to leverage hardware benefits of the ATEM and the software features in Castr.

How to Connect the ATEM Mini Pro to Castr

1. Find the ATEM Streaming XML file

Locate the file Streaming.XML on your computer:

    • For Mac: /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/Switchers/Streaming.XML
    • For Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic ATEM Switchers\ATEM Software Control\Streaming.XML

The Streaming XML file contains all the data that the ATEM Software Control uses to define where to send your stream.

Tip: We recommend you duplicate this file. As we’ll edit the file in the next step, it’s best to keep the original file that comes with the ATEM unit.

2. Get RTMP endpoint and stream key in Castr

You will need the RTMP endpoint and stream key to connect the ATEM Mini Pro to Castr. First, open or create a project in Castr.

On the right sidebar, under Stream Source Setup, you’ll find the stream key and RTMP link of your stream. Save them for later.

3. Edit the ATEM Streaming XML file

Open the Streaming XML file. You’ll see:

  • An RTMP link. This is the RTMP endpoint of the destination to which you’re sending the data. Example:

  • Various profiles that dictate at what bitrate the ATEM will send out your streams. There are three streaming profiles for each destination: Streaming High, Streaming Medium, and Streaming Low. And for each streaming profile, you’ll have two different bitrate figures, depending on your ATEM settings. How to Connect the ATEM Mini Pro to Castr

To edit the XML file, choose any profile (Facebook, YouTube, Twitch). Select from <service> to </service>. Copy and paste the codes in the same file.

Change the destination’s name to Castr or any reference name to Castr that you prefer. Then copy the RTMP link from Castr and paste it in between the and tags. Your code should look similar to this:
